FAQ

  • HOW DOES SATOP WORK?

SATOP is a two-part process: First, you’ll take a SATOP Screening and speak with a substance use counselor, who will determine which SATOP Program (Level 1 – 4) you’ll need to complete. The levels vary in duration and intensity from a ten-hour education program to a 90-day intensive outpatient treatment program. Once you complete the recommended program, you will have completed SATOP.  To get started with your SATOP screening, call our office at 816-836-2220 or CLICK HERE to visit our SATOP Screening page.

  • WHAT DOES THE SATOP SCREENING CONSIST OF?

The SATOP Screening consists of a review of your driver record, your BAC at the time of your arrest, a computer-scored assessment test, and an interview with a substance use counselor. Based upon the information gathered during the screening, you will be referred to one of the SATOP Service Levels.  Visit our SATOP Screening page to get started.

  • HOW LONG DOES THE SATOP SCREENING TAKE?

Generally it will take you about 30 minutes to work through the online SATOP Screening Questionnaire and select a time for your telephone interview with a counselor, which will take approximately 20 – 30 minutes.

  • HOW LONG IS MY SATOP SCREENING VALID?

Your SATOP screening is valid for 6 months from the date it was completed.  If you have not began a SATOP program level within 6 months, you’ll need to complete the screening again.  The expired screening fee is $126 plus fees as you will have already paid the $249 supplemental fee to the SATOP Department in Jefferson City.

If you have completed a SATOP screening but not yet completed a SATOP program level, and have another alcohol or drug related traffic arrest, you’ll need to retake the SATOP screening and will need to pay the full screening fee, including the supplemental fee, again.

  • HOW DO I CONTACT MY PROBATION OFFICER?

If you need to contact your probation officer outside your regular probation report day, please call them at their office’s main phone number. Please be aware that they may be in court, or visiting with other clients – if they can’t answer your phone call, please leave a message and they’ll respond to your phone call as soon as they can. If you need a copy of a probation report sheet for your upcoming report day visit, you can click here for the online version.  Note that you’ll still need to report in person or as directed by your probation officer.

  • WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED, AND WHEN DO I PAY?

For SATOP Screenings: You’ll need to pay for the screening in order to get the authorization code which will allow you to complete the questionnaire.  The authorization code will be e-mailed to you with receipt of payment.  You can get started by making a payment here using credit/debit.

For SATOP Classes, and other classes:  You’ll need to pay in advance, in order to get on the roster.  You can do so by clicking here.  Once you make your payment, please contact our office at 816-836-2220 in order to confirm your spot on the class roster.  Keep in mind YOU’RE NOT FULLY ENROLLED IN A CLASS UNTIL YOU CALL OUR OFFICE TO BE PLACED ON THE ROSTER.

For probation fees:  You can pay when completing our online report sheet.

For all credit/debit card payments, we add a small online processing fee.  If you prefer, you can pay any class or probation fee using a money order by dropping it by our office.  We’re sorry, but we cannot accept cash or personal checks.

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE TO MISS MY CLASS?

If you’re going to miss your class or SATOP screening, we would LOVE it if you would give us a courtesy call at 816-836-2220 to let us know.  That way, other clients can have that opportunity.  Our policy is that if we don’t hear from you more than 24 hours prior to class beginning, we charge a $25-40 reschedule fee for all classes except SATOP screenings and SATOP/OEP classes.  We do this in order to keep the greatest availability of roster spots for other clients who may need a spot in a screening or class roster.

If you begin a class and do not complete the class, unless there are documented extenuating circumstances, you will need to pay another class fee to re-enroll in a later class.
